Bonfire Test

This test shows that a composite cylinder subjected to elevated temperatures — the most common cause being fire — will vent its contents. A relief device located in the cylinder's plumbing is specially designed to hold pressure until it is exposed to a specific temperature. At approximately 215˚ F/ 102˚ C the pressure relief device is triggered and vents the gas into the atmosphere.
